Who can run for leadership roles?

Candidates must reside within the City of Trenton or the recognized Metro Areas in accordance with Article IX. “The Metro Areas shall be defined as Morrisville, Levittown, Bristol and Langhorne, in the State of Pennsylvania.” (Article I, Section 1.1)

This adjusted timeline for this special election has been carefully structured to ensure:

Ø Adequate time for candidate registration and verification

Ø Fair opportunity for voter registration and validation

Ø Equal campaign access for all candidates

Ø Proper organization of debates and public engagements

Ø Sufficient administrative preparation for a credible Election Day

Accordingly, the Election Commission has adopted the following timelines:

Ø Candidate Registration: March 6 March 26, 2026

Ø Verification & Publication: March 27 April 19, 2026

Ø Voter Registration: March 9 May 23, 2026

Ø Voter Verification: March 9 May 23, 2026

Ø Campaign Period: March 6 May 29, 2026 (12:00 midnight)

Ø Board Debate / Townhall: May 10, 2026 at 3:00 PM

Ø Debate (President & Vice): May 17, 2026 at 3:00 PM

Ø Election Day: May 30, 2026 (8:00 AM 8:00 PM)

Note: Townhall and Debate dates and times are subject to change.

Eligible voters (members, age 18 and above) may reside within Central New Jersey and the recognized Metro Areas in accordance with Article III and mediation provisions.

Application Under Mediation (Special Elections Provision)

Given that this election is being conducted under a mediation agreement, and recognizing the practical limitations in verifying historical attendance and dues over multiple years, the following provisions shall apply:

Ø A one-time payment of $30, as established by the mediation agreement, shall constitute fulfillment of dues for the period January through June 2026.

Ø This payment shall qualify a member for voter eligibility for this Special Election only.

Ø The Constitutional requirement regarding fifty percent (50%) meeting attendance shall not be strictly enforced for this Special Election due to the waiver established under the mediation agreement.

Voting Method and Determination

Voting Method

All voting shall be conducted by secret ballot, ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of each voter’s choice.

Ballots shall be designed and issued in a manner that safeguards voter privacy and protects against duplication or tampering.

Majority Determination

A simple majority shall determine the winner for each position.

A simple majority shall mean the candidate receiving the highest number of valid votes cast for that position.

How will disputes be handled?

DISPUTE HANDLING

The Election Commission shall have the authority to receive, review, and resolve all complaints arising from the electoral process, guided by the Constitution, the mediation agreement, and the principles of fairness, transparency, and due process.

Filing of Complaints

All complaints must be submitted in writing to the Election Commission within two (2) hours of poll closure. Complaints must clearly state the issue, relevant facts, and any supporting evidence. Anonymous or unsupported complaints may not be considered.

Review Process

The Election Commission shall review all complaints in a fair and impartial manner

The Commission may request additional information, documentation, or clarification from involved parties All parties shall be given a reasonable opportunity to respond where necessary
